Peter Westfall family.  Peter was the son of John H. and Elizabeth Allman Westfall and half-brother of Nathaniel Jonathan Westfall

 

Lydia Wilson Smith Westfall, mother of Nathaniel J. Westfall, grandmother of Osa Westfall Corbett.  This picture was probably taken not long before her death in 1907


Half brother to Nathaniel J. Westfall, Private William M. Smith, Company H, 7th Regiment, West Virginia Cavalry 1863-1865;  enrolled in Company H, 8th Regiment of Virginia Mounted Infantry (USA) at Buckhannon on March 25, 1863 and mustered in at Bridgeport on June 16, 1863 for three years.  His unit was renamed to the 7th West Virginia Cavalry in January or February 1864.  From April to October 1863 he was on detached service with Battery G, 1st and 2nd Regiment of Virginia Light Artillery.  Described as 5' 10 3/4", complexion "florid" eyes gray, hair light, born Lewis County, occupation farmer; mustered out of service on August 1, 1865 at Charleston, West Virginia.

Grave stone for Edward Dixon Westfall in Elmendorf, Texas. It has a plaque commemorating him as a citizen of the Republic of Texas, 1836-1846.  It is engraved, " In Loving Rememberence of my loving husband Edward Dixon Westfall born in Vincennes, Nox [Knox] County, Indiana Dec. 22, 1820 Died June 12, 1897"

Cove Lick Road north of Copley in Lewis County, West Virginia.  This is the approximate area where William McKindra Smith, half brother Nathaniel Westfall, and Thomas G. Smith settled soon after Nathaniel married Luvenia Trowbridge in 1880.  The Smith brothers had 40 acres on each side of Nathaniel's 40 acres.

 
Standing at the intersection of West Fall Hollow Road (sic), Murphy's Creek Road and Wolf Pen Road.  This location was once known as Edmiston and was the location of Peter Westfall's homestead.  Peter was my great grandfather Nathaniel J. Westfall's half brother.  Lewis County, West Virginia.

My grandson Daniel with me at Westfall Hollow Road.  This spot is a mile or two south of the Harrison Grove Cemetery on Murphy's Creek Road where Peter, Nathaniel and other family members are buried in Lewis County, West Virginia.

Approximate two miles north of Copley, West Virginia on Cove Lick Road.  This is the approximate location of the homesteads of great grandfather Nathaniel J. Westfall and his half brothers William "Kin" Smith and Thomas G. Smith.
