These are pictures of our family in the year 2010

Mocha and Pascal in their corral before Art and I fenced in the back lot.
19 Feb 2010

Our two new chicks Bandit (black and white chick) and Sally (yellow chick).  Sue named Bandit because before she feathered out she was completely black with a white mask around her eyes.  Movie buffs will know where the name Sally came from.
22 February 2010

Sally and Bandit hatched about the same time. Sally's mother was a stow-away when we pulled friend KJ Koch's horse trailer over from his old house when he was moving from our area in January. The trailer was full of junk and no one noticed a little black hen that had made a nest and laid some eggs.  Initially I found three chicks when I finally discovered the nest.  Only Sally survived.

Bandit was hatched in our bantum coop during very cold weather in January.  She was the only survivor out of the clutch of eggs that hatched when I discovered the chicks that morning.  Her partentage is uncertain, but because she was very small I believe her mother was one of our smallest black bantums.  We raised both chicks in a bird cage in the house until we thought they were big enough to make on their own in the bantum pen a few weeks after this picture was taken.  Both are doing fine.

The newest addition to the family - Conner, son of Cody and Heather (Wall) Young.  Connor was two months old when this picture was taken on February 26, 2010.

Pictures of our mini "ranch" before Art and I completed the fence around the back of the lot.  The horses in front belong to friend KJ Koch who needed a place to board them for awhile.
March 12, 2010

The back of our lot in March.  We had a couple of weeks when it rained almost every day.  As a result everything was green.  Art and I had completed setting the posts for the fence.  The "trail" across the ground in the forefront was from the hay barn that we dragged from one side of the lot to the other where you can see it in the background.
12 March 2010

The fence line on the north side.  This ground is hard!  The posts were supposed to be in the ground three feet.  We were lucky to get some down one foot!  Mocha on the left side of the corral and Pascal on the right.  The four horses up front belong to KJ.  The white horse trailer in the front is the one that almost got me killed.

The back of our property.  The imaginary bright green line marks our north property line.  The dirt pile seen at the extreme lower left was leveled when neighbor Rosie Snell rented a tractor with a front-end loader to do remove some dirt on her property.  She sent the guy over to take care of mine.  Thanks, Rosie.

View from the south-east corner of our property.  At this point we were waiting for the electric fence to arrive from Canada.  Tack shed on the far left.  The neighborhood kids were sorry to see our dirt pile go.

This little buckskin mare is Jasmine, KJ's quarter horse that he boarded with us for a short time. The infamous horse trailer that was the root cause of me being trampled in May is behind her.  She is a bit muddy because of all of the rain we had during this period.  It is hard to tell here with her winter coat and the mud, but Jazzy is a pretty horse.
12 March 2010

Four other horses that KJ boarded with us for a few weeks.  In front is quarter horse mare Rosie, next is thoroughbred stud Toltran, next is thoroughbred stud Skywalker and in the end pen is thoroughbred stud Turk.  Turk is the horse that trampled me in May.  The stallions weigh in at about 1400 lbs.  As of June only Toltran and Turk remain with us.
12 March 2010

Our new fence finished thanks to brother Art.  He also fabricated the back gate.  This is the northeast corner.  I took this picture standing on our north property line.  Mocha and Pascal made themselves right at home.
23 March 2010

Pascal and Mocha in their new pasture.  Our rains stopped around this time and the horses made short work of the greenery.  The grey horse (Grey Dog) in the corral belongs to one of KJ's girl friends. It is a stallion so I had to keep it separate from our mares.

Grey Dog in the corral with Pascal and Mocha in the pasture.  Grey Dog was only with us for a couple of weeks.

Pascal and Mocha in their new pasture. View is from across the street on the east end of our property.  The stones mark our property line. Mocha had been rolling in the mud.  The patch of dirt on the left side of the photo is what was left of our dirt pile.

A short video of Pascal at play, 13 April 2010.  Notice that by this time all of the greenery was gone.  This is a *.wmv video that you can play in Windows Media Player or any other player that supports the WMV format.  Click on the picture above and the movie should download and play.

Trail ride on 18 April 2010.  KJ invited me along on his trail ride for his customers designed to build their confidence and condition their horses for trail riding away from their normal invironment.  This is the Bulldog Canyon trail near Usery Pass in Mesa.  With KJ (center) is Rudy (left) riding his horse Jack and Paige (right) riding her horse Sitka.
