on May 11, 1844 and died January 12, 1921 in Akron, Summit Co.,
Ohio. He married Anne Beckett,
daughter of James
and Caroline Beckett,
on June 25, 1866, in St. Martin, Birmingham, England. Anne
was born about 1844 and died before 1881 in England.
NOTES: Information on
James Corbett was supplied by his son, Arthur Corbett, Sr. on
James' death certificate. The 1900 census of Ashland County
lists James Corbett in the household of son-in-law Thomas and
daughter Sady Anderson. It states that James immigrated to the
United States in 1881 and had been in the country 19 years.
His occupation on the census is listed as "yarn bundler"
but more than likely it was "iron bundler" (iron worker)
which is the occupation listed on the 1874 English birth registration
of his son Arthur.

County, England. He became a naturalized citizen of the U.S.
in 1892. He died on 11 Nov 1955 in Van Buren, Crawford Co., Arkansas
and was buried on 14 Nov 1955 in Dripping Springs Cemetry, Van Buren,
Arkansas. He married Clara May Fridinger
October 1, 1898 in Akron, Summit Co., Ohio, daughter of Charles
and Daisy Fridinger.
NOTES: The affidavit
to his birth states that Arthur Corbett lived continuously in
the USA since 1881. Daughter-in-law Osa Corbett gave information
that Arthur came to the US when he was four or five (he was six).
He returned to England when he was twelve and returned to the
United States when he was about sixteen. I have been unable
to document this last fact.
On the 1930 census
for Akron, Summit Co., Ohio (Indexed) Arthur gave the date of
his immigration as 1881. The family appears on the 1881 census
in Stafford, England. The 1820 Census of Akron indicates that
Arthur was naturalized in 1892.
