Descendants of Obediah Corbett

We recently found Obedian and his family listed on the 1851 and 1861 censuses of England.  In 1851 Seven-year-old James is listed as "Scholar" on this census. The relationship of the individual members of the household is not given but it seems a safe assumption that James was the son of Obediah and Mary. Obediah's occupation is listed as Ship Caulker.  The family lived at No. 5 Grundy Street, Middlesex, Popular District, England (a suburb of London).  In 1861 Obediah is working as a boiler maker and the family was living in Essex at No. 17, Rathborne Lane, West Ham, Parish of Plaistow; son James was working as a Ship Caulker.  The 1861 census is the last record I have found of Obediah.

1. James Corbett (Obediah¹) was born at Ocker Hill, Swan Rd., West Bromwich, Stafford, England on May 11, 1844 and died January 12, 1921 in Akron, Summit Co., Ohio. He married Anne Beckett, daughter of James and Caroline Beckett, on June 25, 1866, in St. Martin, Birmingham, England.  Anne was born about 1844 and died before 1881 in England.

James Corbett was in the home of father-in-law James Beckett and wife Caroline Beckett; his occupation Iron weigher. Sons Arthur, John & dau. Sarah also in the home. James is widowed.

3. John Lawrence Corbett (James², Obediah¹) was born May 1867 in Swan Village, Stafford, England, and died Aft. October 31, 1950 in San Gabriel, California. He married Elizabeth in 1886 in Ohio.

4. Arthur Corbett (James², Obediah¹) was born September 8, 1874 in Swan Village, West Bromwich, Stafford County, England, and died November 11, 1955 in Van Buren, Crawford Co., Arkansas. He married Clara May Fridinger October 1, 1898 in Akron, Summit Co., Ohio, daughter of Charles and Daisy Fridinger.

5. Arthur Edmond Corbett (Arthur³, James², Obediah¹) was born April 24, 1899 in Akron, Summit Co., Ohio, and died September 21, 1969 in Fort Smith, Sebastian Co., Arkansas. He married Osa B. Westfall September 12, 1919 in Cumberland, Allegany Co., Maryland, daughter of Nathaniel Westfall and Luvenia Trowbridge.
